Staff Bow Tie Day
Nothing says chic, fancy and formal in one package better than staff bow ties. It can also come off hipster-ish of sorts if it comes with the right combination of hipster-inspired outfits. When it comes to company uniforms, however, tradition dictates that using bow ties are mostly limited to one color, which mostly comes off as very formal.
If you’re looking for a way to spruce up your company uniforms with bow ties but you’re hoping to veer away from the formality of the little fashionable accents, you may want to try out these new trends:
- Tone it down with a polo shirt and a beret. Nothing says casual-hipster than a bow tie on polo shirt with a matching beret. Add a hip apron in a matching color and you’ll have the perfect look for your quaint little artisan bistro or vegan supermarket.
- Go with bold colors or patterns. You can go for bowties in the same dominant color as your logo/brand, or any of the colors that compliment that main hue.
- Customize. If you’re going for patterns, don’t limit yourself to generic, obviously-store- bought bowtie patterns; instead, go original and get your logo/company name printed on the bowties as patters. Tons of service companies would be more than glad to customize your bow ties for you. Now how’s that for a advertising opportunity?
And nothing says Happy National Bow tie Day better than a BEST STAFF BOW TIE PHOTO CONTEST! Send us a photo of you and your friends, or your workmates donning your best bow tie looks and get a chance to win an all-out, super fun Pizza Party from us!
How to Tie a Bow tie
Some people survive this world without ever learning how to put on a bow tie properly; if you’re one of those people, you’re welcome. Here’s a step-by-step instructional on how to tie your bow tie:
- Adjust the size of the bowtie to fit your neck perfectly.
- Put your bowtie around your neck, keeping one of the ends slightly longer than the other. Let’s call the longer end (A) and the shorter one (B).
- Form a simple overhand knot, putting (A) over (B) and knotting it in.
- Put (A) away and hang it over your shoulder.
- Pull (B) closer to your neck and fold over itself; adjust to for the bow.
- Take (A) and put it over the new bow formed by (B).
- Take the two ends of (B), pull them away from your neck outwards and put them together, trapping (A) in between.
- Gently pull (B) outwards until a knot forms in the back; the knot should be big enough to fit (A).
- Fold (A) into a bow and loop its end through the knot that formed in the previous step.
- Straighten up the bow by gently pulling on the sides and making sure that the fit is perfect.
